The Seerat Committee in Pune has decided to postpone the Eid-e-Milad procession celebrating Prophet Muhammad's birthday from September 16 to September 21 due to the Ganesh visarjan festivities. With the immersion scheduled on September 17, many groups traditionally line up on Laxmi Road the day before the event. The committee has also enforced a ban on DJs, dancing, and music during the Eid-e-Milad procession.

According to Rafiuddin Shaikh, the general secretary of the committee, the Muslim community will observe the Prophet's birthday on September 16 at mosques and other venues. However, at the Pune police's request, the procession has been rescheduled to September 21 between 9 am and 2 pm to prevent any potential law and order issues, as both Hindu and Muslim communities use the same route for their respective processions and immersions.

City Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar expressed gratitude to the community for agreeing to postpone the Eid-e-Milad procession, emphasizing the positive impact on communal relations. Haji Zakir Shaikh, a community leader, highlighted that the decision to ban certain activities during the procession aligns with Islamic traditions, stressing the importance of celebrating the Prophet's birthday with dignity and spreading his teachings.

Munawar Qureshi, the founder president of the Indian Muslim Front, raised concerns about the committee's decision, stating that Muslim groups had not been consulted prior to the announcement. He emphasized the logistical challenges of organizing the procession in the morning due to the time needed to prepare the groups involved. In the past, attempts were made to organize a procession, but it did not generate the expected response. Currently, the leaders of most organizations are in discussions with the police to obtain approval for holding separate processions in their designated areas from 2 pm to 12 am.
